Pulitzer Prize Winners Announced

On April 12th, this year's Pulitzer Prize winners were announced.
 
The fiction prize was awarded to author Paul Harding for his debut novel, Tinkers, published by Bellvue Literary Press. Tinkers is the story of a father and son based partially on Harding's experiences with his own grandfather. Harding, 42, teaches creative writing at the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop.
 
Tinkers is the first book published by a small press to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction since A Confederacy of Dunces (published by the Louisiana State University Press) won in 1981.
 
The prize for general nonfiction was awarded to David E. Hoffman's The Dead Hand: The Untold Story of the Cold War Arms Race, published by Doubleday.
 
Poet Rae Armantrout won the prize in poetry for her collection Versed, published by Wesleyan University Press.
 
The biography prize was won by T.J. Stiles' The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt.
 
The history prize went to Liaquat Ahamed for his book Lords of Finance: The Bankers Who Broke the World.
