The hotel, built in 1923, was refurbished in 2000 and turned into apartments: Amelia has two: one for her and one for her guests. The B & B is a completely furnished apartment with living room (TV/VCR), kitchen (dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, linens, and basic staples), and eating area. Amelia’s Place is three blocks from the Convention Center and City Hall, less than a third of a mile from the Cedars Light rail station that stops at the Convention Center and connects with the Trinity Railway Express that takes guests on to DFW Airport and Fort Worth. Moreover, Amelia’s Place is on three bus lines taking you anywhere in the city. The rate includes a breakfast so good and so big that you can skip lunch, and a free Happy Hour in Amelia’s apartment. You may also arrange to take potluck supper with Amelia for a few bucks if you’d like. There are several good, inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood, or you can go to Main Street a mile away and eat at fancier, more costly places.
